Tuesday 23 October 2012

So right now I'm in school and fangirling while browsing through the Internet because my morning class got cancelled with my lecturer on course. So that leaves me with 6 whole hours of free time! Woohoo!!!

And I want to apologise for once again delaying the magazine reviews... I'm really really sorry! (>_<) I'll do it at the end of this week, I promise!

Anyway here are the promised storyboards and painting practices.

My first 10-panel storyboard

Our first class work - storyboard one scene from Hansel & Gretel

Second class work - storyboard one scene from the movie Coraline

Storyboarding a movie or an animation is HARD. I'm really glad my future job is to be a mangaka, not an animator...

My first monochromatic painting. Colours used are Raw Umber and Yellow Ochre.

This one failed terribly OTL

Argh the water spoiled it all----- (>n<)

Hibiki Personal Seiyuu Ranking Quiz

Hello! Another Saturday will soon be over. I'm done with my school stuff (storyboarding...ugh it's really difficult X_X) so I'm back on the Internet doing my usual blogging, tumbling, fangirling, etc while listening (right now as I type) to my long-anticipated Kindan Kyuuketsuki 4 ~Criminal of the Yellow Rose~. The vampire this time is Fredrich von Wisehelden and his seiyuu is none other than Tachibana Shinnosuke! The PV has made me nosebleed so much, and now the real thing is leaving me breathless like a fish out of water! Kyaaa the sounds and kisses he makes~ *squeal*
And also, I'm really sorry about the magazine reviews...I was too lazy busy to take photos; I'll try taking them tomorrow (hopefully). I'll post my storyboards up too, and I'll rant about them (again). I also had my first watercolour painting lesson yesterday. Now I'm addicted to watercolour painting. Never mind...I already finished 3 paintings for practice. I'll post them up along with the storyboards tomorrow once I no longer feel lazy to take out the scanner. I have to email the scanned storyboards to my class rep anyway... (U_U)

Anyway, I did a personal seiyuu ranking quiz from Hibiki. Both male and female seiyuu are available separately. 50 seiyuu names are given 2 at a time, and you are required to click either: a) one of their names, b) Tie, and c) Don't know either one. They'll then process your results and give you your possible top 50 favourite seiyuu. Knowing me, I went to do the male seiyuu first.

And here are my results.

Male Seiyuu

I have about 5-6 others ranked 46 and above, but I won't post them here.
I think more than 70% of my matches I answered with a tie. It was really hard to choose cos firstly I'm the type who rarely has a favourite. I mean, if I like it, I'll like it. And if I don't like/hate it, I won't like/hate it. And secondly (which I think would most probably apply to everyone else as well), the pairings given could be one where you love/like both of them! OTL I think I could have died from that!

Female Seiyuu

Now, I don't know as many female seiyuu as I know the male ones, hence this result. I didn't expect Yukana to be placed at the top of my list too. But I like her ever since she voiced C.C. from Code Geass. And Orikasa Fumiko~ Rukia!! <3 I wonder why Kawasumi Ayako isn't in the 50 names...Saber~

1st Session of Figure Drawing Class

Osu! Today when I went back to school, the first thing that came to my mind were the renovations being done on the School of InfoComm Technology building (which is my faculty). As such, the staircase that I usually use to go up to my classroom/studio had a barricade. I dislike using the elevators during the peak hours because they'd be overly crowded with students and lecturers alike. It's especially annoying if you're late for class and you have to rush like crazy... But until the renovations are done, I've no choice but to rely on the elevators. My classmates and I had a hard time waiting for an empty elevator that would be able to ferry us down after class ended just now... (-_-)

And also, today was my first Figure Drawing class, and I have to admit that it was really fun. My teacher's a fresh university graduate student from America, and introduced himself as Cash. He told us that he was on an international exchange thing with my school. We couldn't really catch what Cash was saying most of the time because of his accent. But he's a really nice and easy-going person. I like those kind of teachers. It makes class much more enjoyable and less pressurizing. Cash said my entire school with its different faculties were "crazy" and "like a maze" and that "no school in America could compare to it". In terms of its size, I guess... LOL!

After giving short introductions of ourselves to Cash, we went straight into the first lesson. After covering basic sketching techniques by drawing simple 3D geometrical shapes, we went on to basic figure drawing. All of us were given a chance to do live modeling (much to me and my friend's horror). When my turn came, I had no idea what pose to model. In the end I settled on a girl's push-up position, and I could hear some of my classmates' hushed voices wondering if I could hold that position for a whole 3 minutes. Hey, I wasn't in the Uniformed Groups Club in my secondary school for nothing, man... XD

Anyway, here are some of the figure sketches I did in class.

The first basic figure drawing. We were told to perceive what geometrical shapes human figures are made up of. Everyone sees them differently, and THESE are how I think the human figures look like in terms of shapes. My friends says that when I draw manga characters, I draw the girls' bodies better than the guys', and as much as I'm quite disappointed, I have to agree. But I shall take note of how my guys' bodies will turn out after I'm done with this module! ( ^∇^)

One of my classmates (left) was told to model a dance pose with a skeleton (right). She looked fairly uneasy XD This was drawn using my non-dominant hand.

Some kind of soccer pose. Drawn with my non-dominant hand.

The top pose was done by my friend who's an outgoing and energetic guy :3
LOL at the 'Thinking' pose :D

Some 'bending-down-holding-an-axe' kind of pose

I have no idea what this pose is. Some Super Saiyan pose? Goku's pose? (O_o)

This pose reminds me of someone intending to keep a box or object on a high shelf. Don't you think so too?

We used this waxy pencil-like medium... If I'm not wrong, Cash said it's called China Marker or something...? I have to buy them ASAP so that I can do my homework - 10 sketches of human figures/poses drawn entirely with the geometrical shapes, so I'll just draw the poses of my anime figurines~ (・`ω´・)

Looking forward to the next session! In the mean time, gearing up for tomorrow's lesson and the rest of the week... "I CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT, WE CAN DO IT~!!!"

P.S. Crap I think I'm going to catch a cold soon, my voice has changed a little... D':

Back to school blues...

OTL My second school semester starts tomorrow (ToT) So this means that I'll be on hiatus. But I'll try my best to blog as much as possible (but most probably it will be about my school works and assignments) but thank God there's free wi-fi connection in school (so I can constantly go online hehe~) Ah well... But I will continue to listen to drama CDs and all the other wonderful stuff that Japan offers! It's the perfect remedy to cure any stress, depressions, misery, heartbreaks and what-not that I will most probably experience (again) this semester (and any other semester, to be frank) So today I'm gonna post all the artworks that I've done this week and the previous one in hierarchical order.

(Image has been removed)
Collaboration with my good friend. Lineart by her, colours by me.

(Image has been removed)
Messing around with Photoshop, and the poor guy ended up in this (badly coloured) Visual Kei get-up XD

(Image has been removed)
Just a random girl...practicing my colouring techniques. Initially she had purple hair but I changed it to brown because it looked strange...

(Image has been removed)
A.N.JELL fanart for my mum. He's Beautiful fans may be able to tell who is who :3

(Image has been removed)
Gintoki fanart for my deviantart ID. It seems like Gintama's drawing style suits mine XD

(Image has been removed)
Just completed it this evening. This is most probably the last manga-related artwork I'm gonna post, the other upcoming ones will be my school assignments.

Seriously, the only module I'm looking forward to is my Japanese class...
I'm always wondering why the teachers keep telling us to stay away from drawing manga-style. I knew I should've been born in Japan instead!! There're colleges dedicated to manga and anime there, and THAT'S what I want to do in the future, not draw some odd-weird-looking figures... *sigh*

Gearing up for another brain-throbbing-blood-sucking fun and exciting school semester! I CAN DO IT!! (>w<)b *blasts Can Do by Granrodeo on my laptop*

一生に頑張ってね!では、それまで!

P.S.
I already bought the October issues of Dengeki Girl's Style, Pash! and Otomedia last week, but I think I'll do the reviews perhaps this weekend (if I don't have any homework or if I complete them fast).. Really sorry, because I was trying to finish up as many illustrations as I could before school reopens... (ToT)

Tuesday 2 October 2012

Two nights ago I listened to one of the scariest drama CDs ever - Kurayamigatari ~Yoen Ibun~. And I made a big mistake by listening to it at night. DARN THOSE GHOST VOICES AND THE DUMMY HEAD MIC!!! I was totally freaked out by the ghost voices, and daren't go to the toilet after that (TAT) And not forgetting Tsuda Kenjirou-san for his incredible voice acting skills. He voiced multiple characters in this CD, I am in awe! Tsuda-san, you are no longer merely Inui-san and Kazama-sama! XD However, this drama CD is highly recommended. It has a good plot and the ending is unexpected. Google it and you'll find quite a few good reviews around. Unfortunately translations aren't available as of yet, so we will have to wait. But summaries are available so the plot is somewhat understandable. And once again, BEWARE THE GHOST VOICES!!!
The CD cover is really nice!
This guy appears throughout the whole CD (since he's the main reason why the listener -you- goes to see him), and his voice is exactly the same as Kazama's :D

Next up, one of the CDs that I've been impatiently expecting since like forever, DIABOLIK LOVERS VERSUS 2 - Subaru VS Raito. Hell yeah! My two favourite vampire brothers facing off each other in the same CD! Subaru~ (´∀`)♡ I love his seiyuu as well, Kondou Takashi. Hibari!!
And I have no idea why the heck Raito is my second bias when he's a 変態 and a super psychotic ドS! Hirakawa-san...it has to be your voice, it has to!! Why are you killing me (and all the other fangirls) with that deadly voice of yours (which, combined with the super dummy head mic power, becomes even deadlier)??? (╯°Д°)╯︵/(.□ . \)

Birthday Celebration 2012

I celebrated my birthday with my cousin yesterday. My friends came and it was really fun! \(^∀^)メ(^∀^)メ(^∀^)メ(^∀^)ノ We held a barbecue party at my aunt's house...yeah, they know how much I just love barbecues! :D

Some photos taken during the celebration...

Barbecue time and cocktail drinks!

My birthday gifts
My friends were asking me which animal I liked, and I said I didn't like bears... Turns out I'd said the wrong thing at the wrong time - one of my friends gave me that teddy bear. I'm so sorry! I take back my words!! <(。_。)>
......but I really am not a teddy bear fan... (; ̄ェ ̄)

An INFINITE 2013 calendar and coin box! Given by two of my friends who are into K-pop. Yeah, INFINITE is my favourite K-pop band. Dongwoo! (´∀`)♡

Gundam model kits given by two of my aunts and my cousin, Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed Destiny and Gundam 00. A sudden Gundam influx (O.o)
My aunt forgot to remove the price tags before wrapping, so now I know how much they cost hehehe... (¬w¬)

Wacom's Bamboo Manga Pen and Touch given by another aunt along with a Canon Ixus camera with pouch and mini tripod. What's the difference between this Bamboo Manga tablet and the normal Bamboo tablet? (・_・ヾ

Maneki Neko and sakura fan from The Japanese Shop. とてもかわいい〜

As I mentioned before, I braced myself for the embarrassment, but I think I had my guard down a little - my grandma made a joke about me getting married after this birthday, and my friends teased me non-stop... ヘ(>_<ヘ)  But it was really fun! And the cards they gave me...they're all so sweet and caring people! I wanted to cry after reading the cards ヽ(;▽;)ノ... みんな大好き!(´ε` )♡
